Campaign Promises
Unlike most of the current City Council members, I will listen with empathy to the people of Ridgecrest and surrounding area, take bipartisan topics very seriously, and vote in the interest of the people of Ridgecrest and our basin. I will not be a yes-person to the City Manager, City Attorney, or Chief of Police. I am for the people of Ridgecrest. I will push to keep the City of Ridgecrest accountable and transparent by promoting topics to be added for the agenda
The Issues
- Flock: Ai-powered surveillance cameras is a violation of our privacy in our small desert town. This is supposed to be a place where we can enjoy seclusion from the the rest of California and the country.
- Data Center: I believe the Eastern Sierras is the most beautiful place I’ve lived in California and I want to keep it that way. I am opposed to the Inyokern Data Center.
- Water: I am interested in reviewing our water solutions that provide the maximum benefit without ballooning costs for ratepayers in the City of Ridgecrest. The fixed annual rate of the Pipeline that doesn’t guarantee water each year doesn’t seem like a logical solution. The pipeline is dependent upon snow melt which is becoming less reliable due to climate change. We need to do a few things to get our basin to a sustainable state for the future of our community.
- First, we need to help our neighbors get into a Tier 1 status on their bills through water conservation. That means fixing leaking swamp coolers and favoring trees over lawns. Trees use less water than a lawn and help lower the temperature in cities.
- Second, we need to capture the water from our surrounding canyons to recharge the water at the base of the mountains. In years of high rains, the LA aqueduct has to relieve pressure and dumps water into our basin. That water is currently not being captured.
- Third, we need to push back against big businesses that want to exploit our limited natural resources irresponsibly.
- Lastly, if those efforts still don’t get us to a sustainable yield, we need to consider other projects that can actually deliver.
- Crime/Parks & Rec: Studies have shown that when you give the community something to do, there is less crime. I would support a city budget that improves our parks for all ages. Teenagers need their own spaces to socialize. An amphitheater would be an engaging, low-cost space where teens could gather to express their talents with “battle of the bands”, improv, dance and cheer.
- Women: I want to be an advocate for women in our town. We need to make sure essential services for women’s health are available to half our population.
Qualifications
- ~10 year resident of Ridgecrest
- In attendance regularly at City Council Meetings for over a year
- Effective communication with public speaking
- Attention to detail when proofing documentation
- Experience with multimillion dollar projects
- Bachelor’s Degree (2007)
- Proven ability to work with people of different political backgrounds to build community coalitions
